Menurl

The digital menu for modern restaurants

Menurl is a web app that turns a restaurant's menu into something digital and interactive. I handled all the product design and front-end development, aiming for a modern, easy-to-use interface — both for the people reading the menu and the ones managing it.

Context and Idea

Menurl came out of a real problem restaurateurs have: paper menus and PDFs are a pain to update and annoying to read on a phone. The idea was to replace them with a digital menu that's easy to browse and always reflects what the restaurant is actually serving right now.

Challenges

  • Designing an elegant customer-facing interface (the menu) and an intuitive control panel (the dashboard) for the restaurateur
  • Ensuring high performance and fast load times, even on slow mobile connections
  • Creating a scalable and accessible design system
  • Smoothly integrating the front-end with an external backend architecture and APIs

The Solution

I designed the interface and built the front-end in Angular. From a dashboard, the restaurateur creates, updates, and manages their menus in real time. The customer scans a QR code or opens a link and lands on a responsive, multilingual, always-updated menu — no app to download. What I built: • A dashboard to manage menus, categories, and products • Menu access via QR code or shareable link • Two languages (Italian / English) with NGX-Translate • A responsive layout that holds up on any screen • View charts and statistics with Chart.js • Micro-interactions and animations with GSAP

Development and Technologies

I took care of the whole front-end in Angular: design, user experience, and interface. The backend was built by Andrea Calotychos — APIs, data, and transaction handling. We worked closely to make the two parts fit together and keep security and stability in check.

Results

  • A SaaS that's online, working, and ready to grow
  • The same simple, consistent experience on every device
  • A dashboard restaurateurs use every day
  • A stably integrated backend and full GDPR compliance

Conclusion

Menurl is proof that a single designer/developer, with a good backend partner, can ship a complete, polished SaaS. It's the kind of work I enjoy: taking an idea and turning it into a real product that people actually use.
